The Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) administers the state's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program. The UCR program is a state and national criminal justice data collection program managed by the FBI. The program focuses on collecting data related to crimes reported to the police. VCIC is responsible for collecting, editing, and analyzing reported crime data from all law enforcement agencies statewide. Agencies provide this information by reporting consistent with the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS). NIBRS data is collected, compiled and audited by VCIC. The NIBRS data provides the information base for the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Crime Data Explorer (CDE). This publically available website provides analytical and statistical data at both the state and federal level.
